Suvarnabhumi airport has resumed full operation at 11am Friday after the protesters led by the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) occupied the airport and disrupted its operation for about a week in a bid to topple the government. Acting Transport Minister Santi Promphat, pictured center, together with officials from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) inspected Suvarnabhumi’s readiness. Thousands of people at Wat Bang Phli Yai Nai, Bang Phli, attended the "Lotus Throwing" festival to mark the end of the Buddhist Retreat. A Buddha image on a boat, made its way down the canal, while worshippers on both banks threw lotus flowers at it. After one hour, the mound of lotus flowers had reached the neck of the Buddha.
