Korkaew Pikulthong (C), one of the detained leaders of the "red shirt" movement, is escorted by policemen after he registered his candidacy for a by-election in Bangkok June 28, 2010. Korkaew, detained on terrorism accusations, registered his candidacy on Monday for a by-election in Bangkok, a move that will let him raise questions about what the opposition calls "political persecution". Korkaew, who will be standing for the opposition Puea Thai Party close to ousted former premier Thaksin Shinawatra, was temporarily released from detention for the registration. (Reuters)
