Ban Khun Samut School in Samut Prakan, has already had to move once due to the effects of land erosion along the coastline of the Gulf of Thailand. However, 10 years later it is starting to look like this school, with 30 students and 3 teachers, will again have to move further inland. During high tide each day, the playground is flooded by sea water. The classrooms are all built on stilts, however termites have forced the closure of one classroom due to the danger of it collapsing. The students don’t have enough specialist teachers, so they learn many subjects through the Distance Learning project set up by H.M. The King. Live pictures from a demonstration school are beamed into each classroom via satellite. (Richard Barrow/ThaiPhotoBlogs.com)
