Global Warming Claims Temple and School

Local fisherman from Ban Khun Samut Chin in Samut Prakan, Thailand, take advantage of the low tide to look for cockles. Towering above them are the electricty pylons which have been abandoned due to land erosion. Families in this district have moved their homes further inland 3 or 4 times in the last twenty years. The Thai temple, Wat Khun Samut Chin, is now surrounded by the sea at high tide. The five resident monks have raised the floor more than halfway. Despite this, the temple is still used and now stands as a symbol for the local community's fight against further land erosion. Seabreakers have been built and everyone is involved in planting mangrove trees.(ThaiPhotBlogs.com/Richard Barrow)
