A popular seaside resort for Thai people is Bangsaen Beach in Chonburi Province. It is just over one hour from Bangkok and at the weekend it is packed with thousands of people. Over recent years, its popularity has started to take a toll and the beach has started to look more like a garbage tip. Phra Pradaeng Songkran Festival 2009

The Phra Pradaeng Songkran Festival took place this weekend in Samut Prakan province. It differs from others in that it is held a little later than in most other locales. The Songkran rituals and celebrations here are held on the weekend that follows after Songkran Day on April 13. The highlight is the parade through the town to Wat Proteket Chettharam where Miss Songkran 2009 (with red sash), together with local administrators, release birds and fish as a means of making merit. Thaksin Has Nicaraguan Passport

The Nicaraguan government anounced it has made fugutive former premier Thaksin Shinawatra a "special ambassador" and issued him a diplomatic passport. The passport was issued in January when Thaksin visited the country, and was given to him in February, when he met Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega. (matichon.co.th)
