Three policemen and a civilian were seriously wounded in the roadside bomb attack on a passing police pick-up truck in the largely Muslim province bordering Malaysia, police said. Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat provinces were part of an independent sultanate known as Patani until annexed in 1909 by predominantly Buddhist Thailand. (Reuters)
