Train Crash in Northern Thailand

A fast train ran into the back end of a slower train as both headed for Chiang Mai early this morning, injuring more than 130 passengers including a number of foreign tourists, 20 of them seriously. Two passenger cars derailed during the collision. The crash occurred five kilometres outside Pichit province.The accident paralysed all train services on the northern route. Rescue workers walked about five kilometres to transport the injured for emergency medical treatment, officials said. (Bangkok post and Thai Rath)
